Description
These festive 4th of July Cake Pops are made with moist cake, creamy frosting, and patriotic red, white, and blue coatings. They’re the perfect handheld treat for your Independence Day celebration.
Ingredients
1 box white or vanilla cake mix (plus eggs, oil, and water as directed)
1/2 cup vanilla frosting
12 oz white chocolate or candy melts (red, white, and blue)
Sprinkles or star-shaped decorations
Cake pop sticks
Instructions
1. Bake the cake according to package directions. Let it cool completely.
2. Crumble the cooled cake into a large bowl.
3. Mix in frosting a little at a time until the mixture holds together like dough.
4. Scoop and roll the mixture into 1-inch balls. Place them on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
5. Chill the cake balls in the fridge for 1 hour or freeze for 20 minutes.
6. Melt each color of candy coating in separate bowls.
7. Dip the tip of each stick in melted coating, then insert into a cake ball.
8. Dip the cake pops into the melted coating, letting the excess drip off.
9. Decorate immediately with sprinkles or drizzle with other colors.
10. Stick pops upright in a foam block or stand to set completely.
Notes
Use gel food coloring to dye white melts if red or blue is unavailable.
Avoid adding too much frosting or the pops will be too soft.
Store cake pops in an airtight container at room temperature for 2 days or in the fridge for 5 days.
