Description
This Amish Apple Fritter Bread is packed with cinnamon-spiced apples and swirled with brown sugar for a soft, moist, and flavorful loaf. Drizzled with a sweet glaze, it’s perfect for breakfast or dessert!
Ingredients
For the Bread:
- ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
- ⅔ cup granulated sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1 ½ tsp vanilla extract
- 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 ¾ tsp baking powder
- ½ cup milk
For the Apple Filling:
- 2 medium apples, peeled and diced
- 2 tbsp granulated sugar
- 1 tsp cinnamon
For the Brown Sugar Swirl:
- ⅓ cup brown sugar
- 1 tsp cinnamon
For the Glaze:
- ½ cup powdered sugar
- 1–2 tbsp milk
- ½ tsp vanilla extract
Instructions
1️⃣ Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan.
2️⃣ In a bowl, toss diced apples with sugar and cinnamon. Set aside.
3️⃣ In a large bowl, cream together butter and granulated sugar until fluffy. Add eggs and vanilla, mixing well.
4️⃣ In a separate bowl, whisk together flour and baking powder. Gradually add to the wet ingredients, alternating with milk. Mix until just combined.
5️⃣ Pour half of the batter into the prepared loaf pan. Layer half of the apple mixture, then sprinkle half of the brown sugar-cinnamon mix. Repeat layers with remaining batter, apples, and brown sugar.
6️⃣ Use a knife to gently swirl the layers.
7️⃣ Bake for 50-55 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean. Let cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.
8️⃣ Mix glaze ingredients until smooth and drizzle over the cooled bread.
