1 cup milk
1 large egg
2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
2 large apples (such as Granny Smith or Honeycrisp), cored and sliced into rings
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 tablespoon lemon juice
Butter or oil, for cooking
Maple syrup, for serving (optional)
Prepare the apple rings by coring the apples and slicing them into rings, about 1/4 inch thick.
Mix the apple rings with lemon juice and cinnamon in a bowl, then let them sit for about 10 minutes.
In a large bowl, combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. In another bowl, whisk together the milk, egg, and melted butter.
