Description

Meaning “Lady’s Kisses” in Italian, these traditional cookies from Piedmont feature buttery hazelnut (or almond) halves held together with rich dark chocolate. Crisp, tender, and melt-in-your-mouth delicious!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup (120g) hazelnut flour or finely ground hazelnuts

  • ¾ cup (95g) all-purpose flour

  • ⅔ cup (150g) unsalted butter, cold & cubed

  • ⅓ cup (70g) granulated sugar

  • ½ tsp vanilla extract (optional)

  • Pinch of salt

  • 3 oz (85g) dark chocolate, chopped

Instructions

  1. Make dough: In a food processor, blend hazelnut flour, all-purpose flour, sugar, butter, salt, and vanilla until it forms a soft dough.

  2. Chill: Shape dough into a disk, wrap in plastic, and chill for 1 hour.

  3. Form cookies: Roll dough into ½-inch balls and place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Chill again for 30 minutes.

  4. Bake: Preheat oven to 325°F (165°C). Bake for 13–15 minutes until golden at the bottom. Cool completely.

  5. Fill: Melt chocolate, let it cool slightly, then use a small spoon to sandwich two cookie halves together with chocolate.

Notes

  • Can be made with almond flour for a softer flavor.
