  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • A pinch of salt

  • Instructions

  • Prep Your Berries: Rinse your mixed berries under cool water. Gently pat them dry. If you're using strawberries, slice them into halves or quarters, depending on their size.
  • Make the Custard Base: In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine the milk, heavy cream, and vanilla extract. Stir occasionally until it’s warm but not boiling.
  • Whisk It Up: In a separate bowl, whisk together the egg yolks, sugar, cornstarch, and salt until smooth and creamy.
  • Combine the Mixtures: Once the milk mixture is warm, slowly pour it into the egg mixture while whisking constantly.
  • Thicken the Custard: Pour the mixture back into the saucepan and return it to the heat. Stir continuously until it thickens.
  • Chill & Serve: Remove from heat and let it cool slightly. Chill in the fridge for at least an hour. Serve custard into a bowl, top with fresh berries.
