Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a 9×13 inch baking pan with parchment paper.
- In a saucepan over medium heat, brown 14.5 tbsp of salted butter for the cookie dough, stirring until it becomes golden and fragrant. Remove from heat and allow to cool.
- In a large bowl, combine the cooled brown butter with dark brown sugar, granulated sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract. Mix until well combined.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined. Fold in chocolate chips.
- In another saucepan, melt 3/4 cup of cubed salted butter for the brownie mixture over medium heat. Remove from heat and stir in chopped semi-sweet chocolate until melted and smooth.
- Add vegetable oil, cocoa powder, eggs, egg yolk, granulated sugar, powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and salt to the chocolate mixture, whisking until smooth. Fold in flour and espresso powder (if using), followed by chocolate chips.
- Spread the cookie dough across the bottom of the prepared pan, then pour the brownie batter on top. Use a knife to swirl slightly for a marbled effect.
- Sprinkle with flaky sea salt if desired, then bake for 30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out with a few moist crumbs. Let cool before slicing.
Notes
For best results, ensure all ingredients are at room temperature before starting. The optional espresso powder enhances chocolate flavor without adding a coffee taste.
