  • 3/4 cup of heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
  • 3 cups of fresh strawberries, hulled and quartered
  • 2 tablespoons of granulated sugar
  • 1 cup of heavy whipping cream
  • 1 tablespoon of powdered sugar

  • Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  • In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, brown sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  • Toss in the cold, cubed butter and work it into the flour mixture until it resembles coarse crumbs.
  • Make a well in the center and pour in the heavy cream and vanilla extract. Stir until just combined.
  • Turn the mixture out onto a floured surface and gently knead it a couple of times until it holds together. Pat it into a rectangle about 1 inch thick.
  • Use a biscuit cutter or a glass to cut out your shortcakes.
  • Place the shortcakes on a parchment-lined baking sheet and brush the tops with heavy cream.
  • Bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
  • While the shortcakes cool, toss the hulled and quartered strawberries with granulated sugar in a bowl.
  • In a medium bowl, beat the heavy whipping cream with powdered sugar until soft peaks form.
  • Slice each biscuit in half, spoon strawberries onto the bottom half, add whipped cream, and top with the other half.
