Instructions
- In a mixing bowl, combine the ricotta cheese, powdered sugar, vanilla extract, ground cinnamon, mini chocolate chips, and candied orange peel (if using). Mix until well combined and set aside.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the eggs, whole milk, heavy cream, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, ground cinnamon, and a pinch of salt.
- Preheat a griddle or non-stick skillet over medium heat and melt butter (add vegetable oil if needed to prevent sticking).
- Dip each slice of challah or brioche bread into the egg mixture, allowing excess to drip off.
- Place the dipped bread slices onto the cooking surface and cook until golden brown on both sides, about 3-4 minutes per side.
- Once cooked, plate the French toast and spread a generous dollop of the cannoli cream on top.
- Garnish with powdered sugar, mini chocolate chips, chopped pistachios, and additional candied orange peel if desired.
Notes
For best results, ensure the ricotta cheese is well-drained to achieve a thicker cannoli cream. Adjust sweetness according to your preference by adding more or less powdered sugar.
