1/2 teaspoon of baking powder

1/4 cup of unsalted butter, softened
3/4 cup of granulated sugar
1/4 cup of brown sugar, packed
1 large egg
1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
1/4 cup of semi-sweet chocolate chips
1/2 cup of caramel sauce
Powdered sugar for dusting (optional)
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
In a medium-sized bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
In a large mixing bowl, cream the softened butter with granulated sugar and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until combined.
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter-sugar mixture, stirring until just combined. Fold in the chocolate chips gently.
Cover your dough and chill it in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes.
If using store-bought caramel sauce, warm it slightly to make it easier to handle.
Scoop a tablespoon of dough into your palm, flatten it slightly, and place about half a teaspoon of caramel in the center. Enclose the caramel by carefully folding the cookie dough around it.
Dust the tops of the cookie balls with powdered sugar.
Bake the cookies for 10-12 minutes, or until the tops are crackled.
