Ingredients
1.5 pounds ground beef
1 yellow onion
finely diced
4 pounds russet potatoes
peeled and sliced into ¼-inch pieces
2 cups grated cheddar cheese
1 (10.75-ounce) can condensed cheddar soup
1 (12-ounce) can evaporated milk
½ cup milk
½ teaspoon garlic powder
Kosher salt
to taste
Freshly ground black pepper
to taste
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large skillet, cook the ground beef and diced onion over medium heat until the beef is browned and the onion is translucent. Drain any excess fat.
- In a large bowl, combine the cheddar soup, evaporated milk, milk, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
- Layer half of the sliced potatoes in the bottom of a greased baking dish. Top with half of the beef mixture, half of the cheese, and half of the sauce mixture.
- Repeat the layers with the remaining potatoes, beef, cheese, and sauce.
- Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 30 minutes.
- Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes or until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown.
- Let the casserole sit for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy!
