1 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
1 ¾ cups granulated sugar
¾ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1 ½ teaspoons baking powder
1 ½ teaspoons baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
2 large eggs
1 cup whole milk
½ cup vegetable oil
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 cup boiling water
1 cup chopped pecans
1 cup caramel sauce
1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans, or line the bottoms with parchment paper.
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt until combined.
Add eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla. Mix on medium speed for about 2 minutes until smooth.
Carefully stir in boiling water until well combined.
Gently fold in chopped pecans.
Divide the batter evenly between the prepared pans.
Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
Cool in the pans for about 10 minutes, then transfer to wire racks to cool completely.
Once cooled, drizzle caramel sauce between the layers and over the top.
