1 cup of pitted cherries (fresh or frozen)
1 cup of sugar
1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
1/2 cup of unsweetened cocoa powder
1/2 cup of all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon of baking powder
1/4 teaspoon of salt
2 large eggs
1/2 cup of melted butter
1/4 teaspoon of almond extract (optional)
Powdered sugar for dusting
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
Grease a 9×9 inch baking pan with butter or non-stick spray.
In a medium bowl, combine the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt. Whisk to mix well.
In another large bowl, mix together the melted butter, sugar, vanilla extract, and eggs until smooth.
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring gently.
