Description

Golden, crispy on the outside, and soft on the inside, these homemade churros are coated in cinnamon sugar and perfect for dipping in chocolate sauce. A classic treat you’ll love making at home!


Ingredients

For the Churros:

  • 1 cup water
  • 2 ½ tbsp sugar
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • Vegetable oil (for frying)

For the Cinnamon-Sugar Coating:

  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp cinnamon

Instructions

  • Make the Dough:
    • In a saucepan, heat water, sugar, salt, and butter until melted.
    • Stir in flour and mix until a smooth dough forms.
    • Remove from heat and let cool slightly before adding vanilla and eggs, mixing until smooth.
  • Pipe & Fry:
    • Heat oil to 175°C (350°F).
    • Transfer dough to a piping bag with a star tip and pipe strips into the hot oil.
    • Fry until golden brown (about 2-3 minutes per side), then drain on paper towels.
  • Coat & Serve:
    • Toss warm churros in cinnamon sugar.
    • Serve with chocolate sauce or caramel for dipping

Notes

  • For extra crispiness, fry in small batches.
  • If dough is too thick, add a splash of milk before piping.
  • Try dipping in dulce de leche or Nutella for a fun twist!
