Ingredients

  • 2 lbs russet or Yukon gold potatoes, thinly sliced
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 cups heavy cream (or whole milk)
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ¼ tsp black pepper
  • ½ tsp dried thyme (optional)
  • ¼ tsp paprika (for a golden top)
  • Fresh parsley, for garnish

Instructions

1️⃣ Preheat Oven – Set to 375°F (190°C). Grease a baking dish with butter.

2️⃣ Make the Cream Sauce – In a saucepan over medium heat, melt butter and sauté garlic for 1 minute. Stir in heavy cream, salt, pepper, and thyme. Simmer for 2-3 minutes, then remove from heat.

3️⃣ Layer the Potatoes – Arrange half of the sliced potatoes in the baking dish. Pour half of the cream sauce over them, then sprinkle with cheddar cheese. Repeat the layers with the remaining potatoes and sauce.

4️⃣ Bake & Finish – Cover with foil and bake for 40 minutes. Remove foil, sprinkle Parmesan and paprika on top, then bake uncovered for 20 more minutes until golden and bubbly.

5️⃣ Serve & Enjoy! – Let cool for 5 minutes, then garnish with fresh parsley and serve war
