Ingredients

Scale

2 lbs (900g) chicken thighs

½ cup (120ml) heavy whipping cream

3 tbsp unsalted butter (cubed)

5 cloves garlic (minced)

2 tbsp fresh ginger (grated)

1 tsp ground turmeric

½ tsp chili powder

1 tsp salt

2 tsp garam masala

1 tsp smoked paprika

1 tsp ground cumin

16 oz (450g) tomato sauce

½ tsp sugar or honey

Fresh parsley

Instructions

  • In a large bowl, combine the chicken thighs with all the spices: turmeric, chili powder, salt, garam masala, smoked paprika, and cumin. Mix until chicken is well coated.
  • Place the seasoned chicken in the crockpot and add the minced garlic, grated ginger, tomato sauce, and sugar (or honey). Stir to combine.
  • Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours or on high for 3-4 hours, until the chicken is tender and cooked through.
  • Once cooked, stir in the heavy whipping cream and cubed butter until melted and well combined.
  • Serve warm, garnished with fresh parsley, mint, or cilantro.

Notes

For an extra kick, adjust the chili powder to your spice preference. This dish pairs wonderfully with rice or naan.
