This Crockpot Butter Chicken is a rich and creamy dish that brings the flavors of India to your table. Made with tender chicken thighs, aromatic spices, and a luscious sauce, it’s perfect for busy weeknights.
Ingredients
2 lbs (900g) chicken thighs
½ cup (120ml) heavy whipping cream
3 tbsp unsalted butter (cubed)
5 cloves garlic (minced)
2 tbsp fresh ginger (grated)
1 tsp ground turmeric
½ tsp chili powder
1 tsp salt
2 tsp garam masala
1 tsp smoked paprika
1 tsp ground cumin
16 oz (450g) tomato sauce
½ tsp sugar or honey

Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine the chicken thighs with all the spices: turmeric, chili powder, salt, garam masala, smoked paprika, and cumin. Mix until chicken is well coated.
- Place the seasoned chicken in the crockpot and add the minced garlic, grated ginger, tomato sauce, and sugar (or honey). Stir to combine.
- Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours or on high for 3-4 hours, until the chicken is tender and cooked through.
- Once cooked, stir in the heavy whipping cream and cubed butter until melted and well combined.
- Serve warm, garnished with fresh parsley, mint, or cilantro.
Notes
For an extra kick, adjust the chili powder to your spice preference. This dish pairs wonderfully with rice or naan.
