  • 1 cup sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 3 large eggs

  • 1 tablespoon pumpkin pie spice
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

  • Instructions

  • Prepare the caramel: In a medium saucepan, combine the granulated sugar and water. Heat over medium-low heat until the sugar dissolves. Increase heat and let it boil until it turns amber, around 8-10 minutes.
  • Pour the caramel: Immediately pour the caramel into the bottom of a round 9-inch cake pan or individual ramekins, tilting to coat the bottom. Set aside to cool.
  • Make the custard: In a large bowl, whisk together pumpkin puree, sweetened condensed milk, whole milk, eggs, vanilla extract, pumpkin pie spice, and salt until smooth.
  • Combine and pour: Gently pour the pumpkin mixture over the cooled caramel in your prepared pan.
  • Bake in a water bath: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Place the filled pan in a larger baking dish and fill with hot water until halfway up the sides of the flan pan. Bake for about 50-60 minutes.
  • Cool down: Let it cool to room temperature, then refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight.
  • Unmold and serve: Run a knife around the edges, place a plate on top, and invert to release the flan.
