Ingredients
1 9-inch pie crust
unbaked
1/2 cup unsalted butter
2 oz semi-sweet or dark chocolate
1 cup granulated sugar
2 large eggs
1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1 tsp pure vanilla extract
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
3 oz semi-sweet chocolate (for topping)
1/4 cup heavy cream
1 tbsp corn syrup (optional
for shine)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a saucepan, melt the butter and 2 oz of chocolate together over low heat, stirring until smooth.
- Remove from heat and whisk in the sugar, followed by the eggs, cocoa powder, vanilla extract, salt, and flour until well combined.
- Pour the mixture into the unbaked pie crust and smooth the top.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes, or until the center has set.
- While the pie is baking, prepare the topping by melting 3 oz of semi-sweet chocolate with heavy cream in a small saucepan over low heat until smooth.
- Stir in corn syrup (if using) for extra shine.
- Once the pie is done, remove it from the oven and let it cool slightly before drizzling the chocolate topping over the pie.
- Allow to cool completely before serving.
Notes
For best flavor, let the pie chill in the refrigerator for a few hours before serving. Serve with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream for an extra treat.
