Description
This Deliciously Creamy Chicken Cordon Bleu features tender chicken breasts stuffed with savory ham and melted Swiss cheese, all topped with a rich, creamy sauce.
Ingredients
4 boneless
skinless chicken breasts
4 slices of ham (preferably black forest or honey ham)
4 slices of Swiss cheese
1 cup all-purpose flour
2 large eggs
1 cup breadcrumbs (preferably panko)
Salt and pepper to taste
2 tbsp olive oil
2 tbsp butter
1 cup heavy cream
1 cup chicken broth
2 cloves garlic
minced
1 tsp Dijon mustard
1 tsp fresh parsley
chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Place each chicken breast between two pieces of plastic wrap and pound them to an even thickness.
- Layer a slice of ham and a slice of Swiss cheese on each chicken breast, then roll them up tightly.
- Dredge each roll in flour, dip in beaten eggs, then coat with breadcrumbs.
- In a large skillet, heat olive oil and butter over medium heat, then sear each roll on all sides until golden brown.
- Transfer the rolls to a baking dish and bake for 20 minutes or until cooked through.
- In a saucepan, combine heavy cream, chicken broth, garlic, and Dijon mustard. Simmer until thickened, then season with salt and pepper.
- Serve the chicken rolls drizzled with the creamy sauce and garnish with fresh parsley.
Notes
You can prepare the chicken rolls ahead of time and bake them just before serving for a hassle-free meal.
