Description
This Easy Pistachio Chocolate Baklava layers crisp phyllo dough with crunchy pistachios and rich chocolate. The honey syrup adds perfect sweetness, making this treat irresistibly simple and delicious.
Ingredients
12 sheets phyllo dough, thawed
1 cup shelled pistachios, finely chopped
1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 cup unsalted butter, melted
1 cup honey
1/2 cup water
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 teaspoon lemon juice
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Brush a 9×13-inch baking dish with melted butter.
2. Layer 4 sheets of phyllo in the dish, brushing each sheet with butter.
3. Sprinkle half the pistachios evenly over the phyllo.
4. Sprinkle half the chocolate chips over the pistachios.
5. Layer 4 more phyllo sheets, buttering each.
6. Add the remaining pistachios and chocolate chips.
7. Top with the last 4 phyllo sheets, each brushed with butter.
8. Cut baklava into diamond shapes before baking.
9. Bake for 40-45 minutes until golden and crisp.
10. Meanwhile, combine honey, water, sugar, vanilla, and lemon juice in a saucepan. Bring to a boil, then simmer for 10 minutes.
11. Pour warm syrup over the hot baklava as soon as it comes out of the oven.
12. Let cool completely before serving.
Notes
Use fresh phyllo dough and keep sheets covered to prevent drying.
Chill syrup if you prefer a thicker drizzle.
Swap pistachios with walnuts or almonds if desired.
