Fresh Strawberries
Granulated Sugar
All-Purpose Flour
Baking Powder
Salt
Unsalted Butter
Heavy Cream
Vanilla Extract
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
- Prepare the strawberries by washing them, hulling, and slicing. Mix them with a sprinkle of sugar and let them sit to create syrup.
- In a large bowl, mix together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, salt, and remaining sugar.
- Cut in the cold unsalted butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Pour in the heavy cream and mix until just combined. Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead gently.
- Roll or pat the dough to about 1-inch thickness and cut out biscuits. Place them on a baking sheet.
- Bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
- While the biscuits bake, whip the heavy cream with vanilla extract until soft peaks form.
- To serve, slice the biscuits in half, layer with strawberries and their juices, top with whipped cream, and replace the biscuit top.
Notes
For the best flavor, use fresh, organic strawberries and keep the butter cold for flaky biscuits.
