Description

This simple and delicious stromboli is packed with savory meats, cheese, and Italian seasonings all wrapped up in flaky pizza dough. It’s a perfect weeknight dinner or party appetizer that’s both easy to make and satisfying.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 package (13.8 oz) refrigerated pizza dough
  • 1 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • ½ cup pepperoni slices (or ham, sausage, or your preferred meat)
  • ¼ cup green bell pepper, thinly sliced
  • ¼ cup onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tbsp grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • Marinara sauce for dipping (optional)

Instructions

  • Preheat the Oven:

    • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
    • Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
  • Prepare the Stromboli:

    • Unroll the pizza dough onto a floured surface and gently stretch it into a rectangle.
    • Layer the mozzarella cheese, pepperoni slices, bell pepper, and onion in the center of the dough, leaving a border around the edges.
    • Sprinkle with oregano and garlic powder for extra flavor.
  • Roll it Up:

    • Carefully fold the sides of the dough over the filling, then roll it up tightly like a jelly roll.
    • Place the stromboli seam-side down on the prepared baking sheet.
  • Bake:

    • Brush the top of the stromboli with the beaten egg and sprinkle with Parmesan cheese.
    • Cut a few small slits in the top of the dough for steam to escape.
    • Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown and the cheese is melted inside.
  • Serve:

    • Let the stromboli cool for a few minutes before slicing. Serve with marinara sauce for dipping if desired.

Notes

  • Feel free to customize the filling with your favorite meats, veggies, or cheese.
  • For a spicy twist, add some red pepper flakes or use spicy Italian sausage.
  • If you want a crispier crust, brush the dough with olive oil before baking.
