1 ½ cups of vegetable oil
1 cup of buttermilk, room temperature
2 large eggs, room temperature
2 tablespoons of red food coloring
1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
1 teaspoon of white vinegar
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Prep two 9-inch round cake pans by greasing them and dusting them with flour.
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking soda, salt, and cocoa powder until well combined.
In another mixing bowl, blend the vegetable oil and buttermilk. Then, add in the eggs, red food coloring, vanilla extract, and vinegar. Whisk until it's all combined.
Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients. Gently mix with a spatula until just combined.
Divide the batter evenly between the prepared pans and smooth the tops. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Once done, remove from the oven and let the cakes cool in the pans for about 10 minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.
