1 cup warm milk (about 110°F or 43°C)
¼ cup granulated sugar
3 ½ cups all-purpose flour (plus more for dusting)
½ teaspoon salt
½ cup unsalted butter, melted
6 cloves of garlic, minced
¼ cup fresh parsley, finely chopped
½ teaspoon ground black pepper
1 large egg (for egg wash, optional)
Instructions
In a small bowl, combine warm milk and sugar. Sprinkle the yeast on top and let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until it’s bubbly and frothy.
In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and salt. Add the warm milk mixture to the flour, along with half of the melted butter. Mix until it forms a sticky dough.
Dust your countertop with flour and knead the dough for about 5-7 minutes until it’s smooth and elastic.
Place your kneaded dough in a greased bowl, cover it, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
While the dough rises, mix the rest of the melted butter with minced garlic, parsley, and black pepper in a bowl.
Once your dough has risen, punch it down gently. Roll it out into a large rectangle and spread the garlic butter mixture evenly over the dough.
Starting from one edge, carefully roll the dough into a tight log and cut the log into 12 equal pieces.
Place the rolls in a greased baking dish, cover them, and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Brush the tops of the rolls with the beaten egg if desired. Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
