Description
This Ginger Soy Glazed Cod is a simple, yet flavorful dish that combines the boldness of ginger and soy sauce with the delicate texture of cod. A quick and easy dinner option that’s perfect for a weeknight meal or impressing guests!
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 cod fillets (about 6 oz each)
- 2 tbsp soy sauce (low-sodium preferred)
- 1 tbsp honey
- 1 tbsp rice vinegar
- 1 tsp freshly grated ginger
- 1 tsp garlic, minced
- ½ tsp sesame oil
- ½ tsp red pepper flakes (optional, for a spicy kick)
- 1 tbsp olive oil (for cooking)
- 1 tsp sesame seeds (for garnish)
- 1 tbsp green onions, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
1️⃣ Make the Ginger Soy Glaze:
- In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, honey, rice vinegar, grated ginger, minced garlic, sesame oil, and red pepper flakes (if using).
2️⃣ Prepare the Cod:
- Pat the cod fillets dry with a paper towel. This helps the glaze stick and ensures the fish cooks properly.
3️⃣ Cook the Cod:
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
- Place the cod fillets in the skillet and cook for 4-5 minutes per side, until golden and cooked through.
4️⃣ Glaze the Fish:
- Once the cod is cooked, pour the ginger soy glaze over the fillets. Allow the sauce to simmer for 1-2 minutes to thicken slightly and coat the fish evenly.
5️⃣ Serve & Garnish:
- Serve the glazed cod over rice or steamed vegetables. Garnish with sesame seeds and chopped green onions for added flavor and texture!
Notes
✔️ For added flavor, marinate the cod fillets in the ginger soy glaze for 30 minutes before cooking.
✔️ Serve with a side of sautéed spinach or roasted asparagus for a balanced meal.
✔️ This glaze also works well with other fish like salmon or halibut.
