  • 1/4 teaspoon of ground nutmeg (for spiced syrup)
  • A pinch of salt (for spiced syrup)

  • Instructions

  • In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, brown sugar, baking powder, baking soda, ground ginger, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and salt until well combined.
  • In another bowl, whisk together the buttermilk, egg, and melted butter until smooth.
  • Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients, and stir until just combined.
  • Preheat your non-stick skillet or griddle over medium heat. Add a little butter to the pan, letting it melt and bubble.
  • Pour about 1/4 cup of batter for each pancake onto the skillet. Cook until the edges look set and bubbles begin to form on top (about 2-3 minutes).
