Ingredients
Cookie dough
1 cup butter
at room temp
1 ¾ cups granulated sugar
2 eggs
at room temp
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
¼ teaspoon almond extract
1 cup sour cream
5 ½ cups all-purpose flour
1 ½ teaspoons baking soda
1 teaspoon baking powder
½ teaspoon fine sea salt
Frosting
¾ cup butter
3 ½ cups powdered sugar
3–4 Tablespoons heavy cream
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, cream together the butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- Beat in the eggs, one at a time, then stir in the vanilla and almond extracts.
- Add the sour cream and mix until combined.
- In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, baking powder, and sea salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, ensuring everything is well combined.
- Roll the dough into balls and place them onto the prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden.
- Allow cookies to cool on the sheets for a few minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.
- For frosting, beat butter until creamy, then gradually add powdered sugar, followed by heavy cream and vanilla until fluffy.
- Decorate cooled cookies with frosting and your favorite Halloween sprinkles.
Notes
For extra spooky flair, use food coloring in the frosting to create festive designs. Store cookies in an airtight container for up to a week.
