2 ½ cups of all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon of baking soda
½ teaspoon of salt
1 cup of unsalted butter, softened
1 cup of granulated sugar
1 cup of packed brown sugar
2 large eggs
2 teaspoons of vanilla extract
1 cup of chocolate chips
1 cup of unsalted butter, softened (for frosting)
4 cups of powdered sugar
2 teaspoons of vanilla extract (for frosting)
2–4 tablespoons of milk or cream (for frosting consistency)
Sprinkles or decorations (optional)
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
Grease a heart-shaped cake pan (or two if you're feeling ambitious) with butter or cooking spray. Dust with flour.
Whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt in a bowl.
Cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
Beat in the eggs one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract.
Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet ingredients, folding gently until just combined.
Fold in chocolate chips, leaving a few to sprinkle on top.
Spoon the cookie batter into the prepared pan, spreading it evenly.
Bake for about 25-30 minutes, or until edges are golden and a toothpick comes out clean.
Let the cake cool in the pan for about 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
While it cools, whip together frosting ingredients until creamy. Frost the cake once cooled.
