Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef

  • 4 medium potatoes, thinly sliced

  • 1 medium onion, diced

  • 1 cup cheddar cheese, shredded

  • 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup

  • 1/2 cup milk

  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder

  • 1 teaspoon onion powder

  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika

  • Salt and pepper, to taste

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

  • Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven:

    • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

  • Cook the ground beef:

    • Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat.

    • Add the ground beef and cook, breaking it up with a spoon, until browned and fully cooked.

    • Drain any excess fat and season with garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper. Set aside.

  • Prepare the casserole layers:

    • In a large casserole dish, layer the bottom with sliced potatoes. Season with a little salt and pepper.

    • Next, spread the cooked ground beef evenly over the potatoes.

    • Add the diced onion on top of the beef.

  • Make the sauce:

    • In a bowl, mix together the cream of mushroom soup and milk. Stir until smooth and pour the mixture evenly over the casserole.

  • Bake the casserole:

    • Cover the casserole with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 35 minutes.

    • After 35 minutes, remove the foil, sprinkle the cheddar cheese on top, and bake for an additional 10 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.

  • Serve:

    • Garnish with fresh parsley if desired and serve hot.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, you can add frozen peas or corn to the casserole.

  • If you prefer a crispy top, you can broil the casserole for 2-3 minutes after baking.
