  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup hot water
  • 1 pint vanilla ice cream
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • ½ cup granulated sugar (for fudge)
  • 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder (for fudge)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (for fudge)

  • Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour an 8-inch round cake pan.
  • In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt until well combined.
  • Pour in the melted butter, eggs, and vanilla extract, and mix until combined. Stir in the hot water to create a thin batter.
  • Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  • Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.
  • Once cool, slice the cake in half horizontally and spread softened ice cream on top of one layer.
  • Place the second cake layer on top of the ice cream and press down gently.
  • In a saucepan over medium heat, combine heavy cream, chocolate chips, sugar, and cocoa powder. Stir until melted and smooth, then remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract.
  • Pour the warm hot fudge sauce over the top of the cake and enjoy!
