For the Chicken:
- 500 g (1 lb) chicken tenders
- 1 cup (125 g) all-purpose flour
- 1 cup (120 g) panko breadcrumbs
- 2 eggs
- ½ cup (120 ml) buttermilk
- 1 tsp salt
- ½ tsp black pepper
- ½ tsp garlic powder
- ½ tsp smoked paprika
- ½ tsp cayenne pepper (optional, for extra heat)
- Oil for frying
For the Hot Honey Glaze:
- ½ cup (120 ml) honey
- 1 tbsp hot sauce (adjust to taste)
- 1 tsp red pepper flakes
- 1 tbsp butter
- 1 tsp apple cider vinegar
Instructions
- Prepare the Breading Station: In one bowl, mix flour, salt, pepper, garlic powder, paprika, and cayenne. In another bowl, whisk eggs with buttermilk. In a third bowl, place panko breadcrumbs.
- Coat the Chicken: Dip each chicken tender into the flour mixture, then into the egg mixture, and finally coat with panko breadcrumbs.
- Fry the Tenders: Heat oil in a deep pan to 350°F (175°C). Fry the chicken in batches for about 5-6 minutes until golden brown and crispy. Drain on a paper towel.
- Make the Hot Honey Glaze: In a small saucepan, combine honey, hot sauce, red pepper flakes, butter, and apple cider vinegar. Heat over low until melted and combined.
- Coat the Chicken: Drizzle or toss the fried chicken tenders in the hot honey glaze.
- Serve: Enjoy immediately with ranch, blue cheese, or your favorite dipping sauce!
Notes
- For baking: Bake at 400°F (200°C) for 20-25 minutes, flipping halfway.
- For air frying: Cook at 375°F (190°C) for 12-15 minutes, flipping halfway.
- Adjust the heat level by adding more or less hot sauce and red pepper flakes.
