- 2 tbsp Irish whiskey
- 2 tbsp Guinness stout
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp fresh thyme leaves
- 1 cup Irish cheddar cheese, shredded
- 1 large onion, sliced
- ¼ cup Guinness (for onions)
- 4 brioche burger buns
- 2 tbsp butter, softened
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Optional: arugula and whole grain mustard
Instructions
- Mix ground beef, whiskey, stout, Worcestershire, garlic, thyme, salt, and pepper in a bowl.
- Form into 4 equal patties, making a slight depression in the center of each.
- In a skillet, caramelize onions over medium heat for 10 minutes, then add Guinness and simmer until liquid reduces.
- Grill or pan-fry burgers to desired doneness (about 4-5 minutes per side for medium).
- Top with Irish cheddar during the last minute of cooking to melt.
- Butter and lightly toast buns.
- Assemble burgers with caramelized onions and desired toppings.
