  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Description

Juicy beef patties infused with Irish whiskey and stout, topped with sharp Irish cheddar and caramelized Guinness onions for an authentic pub-style burger experience that brings the flavors of Ireland straight to your table.

Ingredients

Scale
  • lbs ground beef (80/20)
  • 2 tbsp Irish whiskey
  • 2 tbsp Guinness stout
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp fresh thyme leaves
  • 1 cup Irish cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 1 large onion, sliced
  • ¼ cup Guinness (for onions)
  • 4 brioche burger buns
  • 2 tbsp butter, softened
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional: arugula and whole grain mustard

Instructions

  • Mix ground beef, whiskey, stout, Worcestershire, garlic, thyme, salt, and pepper in a bowl.
  • Form into 4 equal patties, making a slight depression in the center of each.
  • In a skillet, caramelize onions over medium heat for 10 minutes, then add Guinness and simmer until liquid reduces.
  • Grill or pan-fry burgers to desired doneness (about 4-5 minutes per side for medium).
  • Top with Irish cheddar during the last minute of cooking to melt.
  • Butter and lightly toast buns.
  • Assemble burgers with caramelized onions and desired toppings.

Notes

  • For an authentic Irish experience, serve with thick-cut potato wedges.
  • The whiskey can be omitted if desired, but adds distinctive flavor.
  • Try substituting blue cheese for the cheddar for a different flavor profile.
  • Allow meat to rest at room temperature for 15 minutes before cooking for more even results.
