A fiery vegetarian twist on a classic! These black bean burgers are loaded with flavor and stuffed with a creamy, cheesy jalapeño center—perfect for summer cookouts or satisfying weeknight dinners.
Ingredients
Black Bean Patties:

1 (15 oz) can black beans, drained and rinsed

½ cup breadcrumbs

1 egg

¼ cup finely diced onion

1 garlic clove, minced

½ tsp ground cumin

Salt and pepper to taste
Jalapeño Popper Filling:

4 tbsp cream cheese, softened

1 jalapeño, finely diced (seeds removed for milder taste)

¼ cup shredded cheddar cheese
Optional for Serving:

Burger buns, lettuce, tomato, avocado, spicy mayo, or more jalapeño slices
Instructions

Prepare patties: Mash black beans in a bowl. Add breadcrumbs, egg, onion, garlic, cumin, salt, and pepper. Mix well.

Shape burgers: Divide mixture into 8 thin patties. In a small bowl, mix cream cheese, jalapeños, and cheddar. Add 1 tbsp of filling to the center of 4 patties. Top with remaining patties and seal edges.

Cook: Heat a skillet with a little oil over medium heat. Cook each burger for 4–5 minutes per side, until browned and hot inside.

Assemble and serve: Place burgers on buns with your favorite toppings and enjoy hot!
