Ingredients

2 tablespoons of olive oil
1 pound of Italian sausage
1 medium onion, diced
4 cloves of garlic, minced
1 can (14 oz) of diced tomatoes
4 cups of chicken broth
12 oz of pasta (penne or fusilli)
1 cup of heavy cream
Salt and pepper to taste
1 teaspoon of Italian seasoning
Parmesan cheese for serving
Fresh basil leaves for garnish
Instructions
In a large pot or Dutch oven, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Once hot, add the Italian sausage. Cook until browned and crumbly, about 5-7 minutes.
Once the sausage is cooked, add the diced onion and sauté for another 3-4 minutes until softened and translucent.
Stir in the minced garlic, and let it cook for about 30 seconds.
Add the diced tomatoes (with their juice), chicken broth, and pasta to the pot. Stir it all together until the pasta is submerged in the liquid.
Bring it to a gentle boil, then lower the heat to a simmer. Cover and cook for about 10-12 minutes, or until the pasta is tender.
Once the pasta is cooked, stir in the heavy cream. Season with salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning to taste.
Serve hot, topped with freshly grated Parmesan cheese and a sprinkle of basil.
