Get ready to enjoy a unique, flavorful spin on the classic Sloppy Joe with these Philly Cheesesteak Sloppy Joes. Featuring savory ground beef, sautéed onions and peppers, and gooey melted cheese, this dish combines the best of both worlds — the richness of a Philly Cheesesteak and the fun, messy appeal of Sloppy Joes. A must-try for your next family dinner!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef

  • 1 onion, thinly sliced

  • 1 bell pepper, thinly sliced (any color)

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 tbsp olive oil

  • 1/4 cup beef broth

  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

  • 1 tbsp ketchup

  • 1 tsp Dijon mustard

  • 4 soft sandwich buns

  • 2 cups provolone cheese, shredded

  • Salt and pepper to taste

  • Fresh parsley (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Cook the beef: In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spoon. Drain any excess fat.

  2. Sauté the vegetables: Add the onion and bell pepper to the skillet and cook for 4-5 minutes, until softened. Add the garlic and cook for another minute.

  3. Make the sauce: Stir in the beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, ketchup, and Dijon mustard. Let it simmer for 5-7 minutes, until the mixture thickens and becomes saucy. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

  4. Assemble the sandwiches: Split the sandwich buns and lightly toast them. Spoon the beef and vegetable mixture onto the buns, then top each with shredded provolone cheese.

  5. Melt the cheese: Place the open sandwiches under a broiler for 1-2 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.

  6. Serve: Garnish with fresh parsley if desired, and serve immediately.

Notes

  • For an extra cheesy twist, you can mix in some melted American cheese along with the provolone.

  • Feel free to use hoagie rolls or any other sandwich bread for this recipe.

  • Add sliced jalapeños for a bit of heat if you like spice!
