Ingredients
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon onion powder (optional)
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter
cold and cubed
1 cup sharp cheddar cheese
freshly shredded
1 cup buttermilk
1 large egg
2 tablespoons melted butter
1 teaspoon dried parsley or 1 tablespoon fresh chopped parsley
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and prepare a loaf pan by greasing it lightly.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the dry ingredients: flour, baking powder, baking soda, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and cayenne pepper.
- Add the cold, cubed butter to the flour mixture, and use a pastry cutter or your fingers to blend until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Fold in the shredded cheddar cheese until evenly distributed.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the buttermilk and egg, then add it to the dry ingredients and mix until just combined.
- Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan, smoothing it out evenly.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until the top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- While the loaf is baking, mix the melted butter, parsley, and garlic powder in a small bowl.
- Once the loaf is out of the oven, brush the top with the garlic butter mixture and allow it to cool for a few minutes before slicing.
- Serve warm and enjoy your homemade Red Lobster’s Cheese Biscuit Loaf!
Notes
