2 lbs chicken breasts or thighs cut into 2-inch cubes

1 cup plain Greek yogurt

1 tablespoon fresh minced ginger

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 tablespoon garam masala

1 teaspoon turmeric

1 teaspoon ground cumin

1 teaspoon red chili powder

1 teaspoon paprika

1 teaspoon of salt

2 tablespoons olive oil

2 tablespoons butter

1 large onion diced

5 cloves garlic minced

1 tablespoon ginger minced

1 teaspoon ground cumin

1 teaspoon garam masala

1 teaspoon paprika

1 teaspoon red chili powder

1 tablespoon sugar

14 oz tomato sauce

1 1/4 teaspoons salt or to taste

1 cup evaporated milk

1/2 cup heavy cream


Instructions

  • In a large bowl, combine the chicken cubes with Greek yogurt, fresh ginger, garlic powder, garam masala, turmeric, ground cumin, red chili powder, paprika, and salt. Mix well to coat the chicken evenly and let it marinate for at least 1 hour, or overnight for best results.
  • In your slow cooker, heat olive oil and butter on the sauté setting. Add diced onion, minced garlic, and ginger; sauté until the onions are translucent.
  • Stir in ground cumin, garam masala, paprika, red chili powder, and sugar. Cook for a minute until fragrant.
  • Add tomato sauce and 1 1/4 teaspoons of salt, mixing well.
  • Add the marinated chicken to the slow cooker and stir to combine. Cover and cook on low for 4-6 hours or high for 2-3 hours, until the chicken is tender.
  • About 30 minutes before serving, stir in evaporated milk and heavy cream, and let it cook until heated through.
  • Serve hot with rice or naan bread.

Notes

For extra creaminess, you can adjust the amount of evaporated milk and heavy cream to suit your preference. Adding fresh cilantro before serving adds a fresh flavor.
