Delicious Spaghetti Balls filled with a rich meat sauce, fried to perfection, combining the classic flavors of Italian cuisine in a fun and hearty dish.
Ingredients
1/2 lb. ground beef
1/2 lb. Italian sausage
28 oz tomato sauce
2 tbsp tomato paste
1 tsp salt
garlic powder
onion powder
basil
oregano
1/4 tsp black pepper
1 tbsp sugar
2 bay leaves
4 cups cooked and cooled spaghetti noodles
1 cup ricotta cheese
1/2 cup parmesan cheese
2 tbsp pesto sauce
1 egg
lightly beaten
1 cup panko bread crumbs
vegetable oil for frying
Instructions
- In a large skillet, cook the ground beef and Italian sausage over medium heat until browned, breaking it up into pieces.
- Stir in the tomato sauce, tomato paste, salt, garlic powder, onion powder, basil, oregano, black pepper, sugar, and bay leaves. Simmer for 20-30 minutes stirring occasionally.
- In a large bowl, combine the cooked spaghetti, ricotta cheese, parmesan cheese, pesto sauce, and beaten egg; mix well.
- Take a small amount of the spaghetti mixture and wrap it around a teaspoon of the meat sauce to form a ball. Repeat with remaining ingredients.
- Roll the balls in panko bread crumbs until fully coated.
- In a deep frying pan, heat vegetable oil over medium heat. Carefully fry the spaghetti balls until golden brown and crispy, about 3-5 minutes.
- Remove and drain on paper towels before serving.
Notes
These Spaghetti Balls can be served with additional meat sauce on the side for dipping.
