½ cup granulated sugar
1 packet (2 ¼ tsp) instant yeast
1 cup warm milk (110°F or 43°C)
⅓ cup unsalted butter, melted (plus more for greasing)
1 large egg
½ teaspoon salt
1 cup fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
½ cup brown sugar
2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
¼ cup unsalted butter, softened
1 cup powdered sugar
2 tablespoons milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
In a large mixing bowl, combine the warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until bubbly and frothy.
Add the melted butter, egg, and salt to the yeast mixture. Gradually stir in the flour, one cup at a time, until a soft dough forms.
Turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface and knead it for about 5-7 minutes until it’s smooth and elastic.
Place the dough in a greased bowl and cover it with a kitchen towel. Let it rise in a warm place for about an hour or until it doubles in size.
While the dough is rising, mix together the brown sugar and cinnamon in a bowl. Set aside.
Once the dough has risen, gently punch it down to release the air. Roll it into a rectangle about 16×12 inches.
Spread the softened butter over the dough, leaving a small border around the edges. Evenly sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mix over the butter, and then scatter the sliced strawberries on top.
Starting from one long side, carefully roll the dough into a tight log, sealing the edges as you go.
Using a sharp knife, slice the log into 12 rolls (about 1.5 inches each). Place the rolls in a greased 9×13-inch baking dish.
Cover the rolls with a towel and let them rise again for about 30 minutes. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
Bake the rolls for 25-30 minutes, or until they are golden brown.
While the rolls are baking, whisk together the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract in a bowl until smooth.
Once the rolls are done, let them cool for about 10 minutes before drizzling with the glaze.
