1 lb ground beef
½ lb ground pork
1 cup breadcrumbs
1 cup grated Swiss cheese
½ cup chopped mushrooms
4 slices crispy cooked bacon, chopped
1 small onion, finely chopped
2 cloves fresh garlic, minced
1 large egg
½ cup milk
2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
1 tsp Dijon mustard
Salt to taste
Pepper to taste
Optional: Fresh parsley, chopped, for garnish
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
Cook the bacon until crispy in a skillet over medium heat. Drain on paper towels and set aside. Save a little bacon grease in the pan for sautéing those mushrooms and onions.
Sauté the mushrooms and onions in the same skillet until they’re soft and fragrant, about 5-7 minutes. Add the minced garlic for the last minute.
In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef and pork, breadcrumbs, Swiss cheese, cooked bacon, sautéed mushrooms and onions, milk, Worcestershire sauce, Dijon mustard, salt, and pepper.
Crack in the egg and mix everything together gently.
Transfer the mixture into a loaf pan or form into a loaf on a lined baking sheet.
Bake in your preheated oven for about 45-55 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (70°C).
Let it rest for 10-15 minutes before slicing.
