  • 1 lb ground beef
  • ½ lb ground pork
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 cup grated Swiss cheese
  • ½ cup chopped mushrooms
  • 4 slices crispy cooked bacon, chopped
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves fresh garlic, minced
  • 1 large egg
  • ½ cup milk
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp Dijon mustard
  • Salt to taste
  • Pepper to taste
  • Optional: Fresh parsley, chopped, for garnish

  • Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Cook the bacon until crispy in a skillet over medium heat. Drain on paper towels and set aside. Save a little bacon grease in the pan for sautéing those mushrooms and onions.
  • Sauté the mushrooms and onions in the same skillet until they’re soft and fragrant, about 5-7 minutes. Add the minced garlic for the last minute.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef and pork, breadcrumbs, Swiss cheese, cooked bacon, sautéed mushrooms and onions, milk, Worcestershire sauce, Dijon mustard, salt, and pepper.
  • Crack in the egg and mix everything together gently.
  • Transfer the mixture into a loaf pan or form into a loaf on a lined baking sheet.
  • Bake in your preheated oven for about 45-55 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (70°C).
  • Let it rest for 10-15 minutes before slicing.
