3 tablespoons of unsalted butter
1 package (10 oz) of marshmallows or about 6 cups of mini marshmallows
6 cups of Rice Krispies cereal
1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
2–3 drops of red food coloring (optional)
Sprinkles, chocolate chips, or heart-shaped candies for decoration
Prep your workspace: Start by greasing a 9×13 inch baking dish with butter or cooking spray.
Melt the butter: In a large pot over medium heat, melt the butter completely until it starts to foam.
Add the marshmallows: Stir in the marshmallows until they’re completely melted and smooth.
Mix in flavor: Add the vanilla extract and food coloring, mixing until combined.
Add the cereal: Remove the pot from heat and gently fold in the Rice Krispies.
Press into the pan: Using a buttered spatula or hands, press the mixture evenly into the prepared baking dish.
Cool and set: Allow the treats to cool at room temperature for about 30 minutes.
