  • Author: amelia
  • Total Time: 30 mins
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Description

Savor tender collard greens cooked quickly with smoky bacon for a flavorful, easy side dish.

Ingredients

Scale

1 lb collard greens, washed and chopped

4 slices bacon, chopped

1 small onion, diced

2 cloves garlic, minced

1/2 cup chicken broth

1 tbsp apple cider vinegar

Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

1. Cook bacon in a large skillet over medium heat until crispy. Remove bacon and set aside, leaving drippings in skillet.

2. Add onion and garlic to skillet; sauté until softened, about 3 minutes.

3. Add chopped collard greens and chicken broth; stir well.

4. Cover and cook for 10-12 minutes, stirring occasionally, until greens are tender.

5. Stir in cooked bacon and apple cider vinegar. Season with salt and pepper.

6. Cook uncovered 2-3 more minutes to let flavors meld.

Notes

Use smoked turkey for a lighter alternative to bacon.

Serve as a hearty side with your favorite main dish.
